Course Objectives
The UAS-AIR-CPM (PtP and PtMP Link Configuration with Ubiquiti airMAX) course is designed to provide students with a detailed understanding of Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint links using the Ubiquiti airMAX system.
In this course, students will learn about key wireless concepts and parameters, as well as gain skills in selecting frequencies, channel width, and configuring equipment.
Chapter 1: Introduction
The basic concepts of radio links are addressed and their advantages and disadvantages are presented. Likewise, the design of a radio link is explained and the different types of radio links are detailed.
The communications network is introduced and the tools necessary to access and configure airMAX equipment are described.
The labs show how to perform a factory reset and how to access and configure airMAX devices for labs.
Chapter 2: Point to Point Links
It delves into the different aspects related to point-to-point links. Operating modes, RF systems, wireless parameters and indicators are explained.
Likewise, the different types of links are described according to their distance and performance, and the equipment necessary for their configuration is detailed. The labs show how to configure a point-to-point link, as well as frequency and channel width selection.
Chapter 3: Multipoint Links
This Chapter introduces the configuration of multipoint links. The different equipment necessary for the configuration of base stations and subscribers is described, and the different antennas available for the base station are presented.
In addition, the new LTU multipoint solution is presented. The AirMAX TDMA system is delved into and the different network modes are described. The labs show how to configure a multipoint link and detail different aspects such as management and service VLANs, Layer 3 CPE equipment, PPPoE, static addressing, and port forwarding.
Bandwidth limitation is also introduced.
Chapter 4: Tools
Different useful tools for configuring and monitoring wireless links are described.
The operation of tools such as Ping/Traceroute, Discovery, Antenna Alignment, Speed Meter, Spectrum Analyzer, Waveform View, Source View, Ambient Noise Level, Site Inspection and Constellation Diagram is explained.
By the end
With this course, participants will acquire the necessary knowledge to design and configure point-to-point and point-multipoint wireless links with Ubiquiti airMAX technology, as well as to perform their monitoring and maintenance.
