Course Objectives
The overall goal of the MAE-IP6-ROS (Introduction to IPv6 with MikroTik) course is to provide students with a solid understanding of IPv6 and how to apply it in network environments using MikroTik devices.
The history, reasons for its creation and characteristics of IPv6 will be covered, as well as its advantages over IPv4.
Chapter 1: Introduction
In this chapter, students will learn about the importance of IPv6, its history, the reasons behind its creation, and its main features. Additionally, the advantages of using IPv6 compared to IPv4 will be explored.
Chapter 2: Differences between IPv4 and IPv6
This chapter will focus on the key differences between IPv4 and IPv6, including CIDR notation, encapsulation, and the header fields of both protocols. Students will also discover the benefits of the simplified IPv6 header.
Chapter 3: Types of IPv6 Addresses
In the third chapter, students will become familiar with the different types of IPv6 addresses, international registry services, and current address assignments. They will also learn about IPv6 connections and how they work.
Chapter 4: Static Routing with IPv6
This chapter will cover routing concepts and how to enable IPv6 on MikroTik devices. Students will learn how to create static routes, configure the default route, and understand the most common route labels. Two practical laboratories are included to reinforce the concepts learned.
Chapter 5: IPv6 Address Assignment
In the last chapter, students will learn about SLAAC assignments and how an SLAAC address is constructed. DHCP assignments, unique device identifier (DUID), and general properties of IPv6 address assignments will also be introduced.
By the end
By the end of this course, students will have a thorough understanding of the differences between IPv4 and IPv6, the types of IPv6 addresses, static routing with IPv6, and IPv6 address assignment.
They will be trained to configure and manage IPv6 networks using MikroTik devices and to address current challenges in network management.
