Course Objectives

The “VLANs with RouterOS (MAE-SWI-VLN)” course is a comprehensive program designed to provide comprehensive knowledge on configuring and managing virtual local area networks (VLANs) using MikroTik's RouterOS.

The course ranges from VLAN fundamentals to more advanced aspects such as Inter-VLAN routing, filtering and VLAN network management with SWOS.

Chapter 1: VLANs

This chapter introduces the basic concepts of VLANs, including their definition, benefits, and types. Participants will learn about different ways to implement VLANs, such as Virtual LAN (802.1Q) and VLANs on switches.

Chapter 2: VLAN Implementation in L2

The goal of this chapter is to delve deeper into VLAN implementation at Layer 2. Topics such as bridged VLAN filtering and bridged VLAN table are covered, providing a detailed technical understanding of how VLANs work at this layer.

Chapter 3: Inter-VLAN Routing

This chapter covers how to establish and manage communication between different VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks) in a network. Here is a summary of the key points:

    • This section explains how to change the untagged VLAN ID for the bridge interface in a VLAN filtering environment. The steps are detailed to configure untagged and tagged traffic in the VLAN, ensuring proper communication between different ports and traffic types.
  3. DHCP VLAN:

    • The role of the DHCP server in modern networks is analyzed, especially in combination with VLANs. Explains how each VLAN can have its own IP address range managed by DHCP, making it easier to manage addresses and configure devices on each network segment.
  4. Firewall – Prevent communications between VLANs:

Chapter 6: SWOS VLAN
