Course Objectives
The general objective of the MAE-ADM-UMR (Introduction to UserManager & RADIUS) course is to provide students with a solid and practical knowledge of UserManager and RADIUS, two fundamental tools for user management and network administration.
The AAA (Authentication, Authorization and Accounting) protocols and how they work in conjunction with UserManager and RADIUS will be explored in detail.
Chapter 1: User Manager
Students will gain an understanding of the AAA protocol, which covers Authentication, Authorization and Accounting. These fundamental concepts are related to the identification and validation of users, the control of access to resources and the monitoring of the use of said resources in a network.
Other relevant AAA protocols will be explored, such as DIAMETER, TACACS and TACACS+. RADIUS and UserManager will be introduced as essential tools for user management and network administration.
Finally, students will be guided through the process of installing UserManager and first access, and then familiarizing them with the administration of Customers.
Chapter 2: User Manager + HotSpot
The second chapter will focus on the integration of UserManager with HotSpot. Students will learn how to configure routers and establish a connection with a Radius client.
Techniques for creating and managing profiles, as well as their limitations and validity, will be taught. Management of users, sessions, registrations, and active sessions in the context of HotSpot will also be covered.
Throughout the chapter, we will explain how to generate vouchers and customize templates, make backups, and how to integrate UserManager with PayPal to offer payment services to users.
Chapter 3: User Manager + PPPoE/ PPTP/L2TP
The third chapter focuses on the implementation of UserManager with the PPPoE, PPTP and L2TP protocols.
Students will learn how to configure and administer UserManager in environments that use these protocols, allowing them to understand how to apply the knowledge learned in a wide variety of situations and use cases.
Chapter 4: User Manager + Users RouterOS/DHCP Lease/Wireless Profiles
This chapter covers how UserManager integrates with different aspects of network management, such as Wireless Profiles, Users RouterOS, and DHCP Lease.
Students will learn how to configure UserManager to work with wireless profiles and will complete a practical laboratory to apply the knowledge acquired. Likewise, students will be taught how to use UserManager with Users RouterOS and DHCP Lease, including conducting practical labs for each of these scenarios.
These hands-on experiences will allow students to consolidate their learning and prepare to apply UserManager in real-world situations.
By the end
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to implement and manage UserManager and RADIUS in different scenarios, such as HotSpot, PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, DHCP Lease and Wireless Profiles. They will also learn to configure Radius clients, create and manage profiles, control user sessions, generate vouchers and perform backups.
Additionally, students will be familiar with UserManager's integration with PayPal to offer payment services.
