Course Objectives
The overall objective of the MAE-RAV-ROS (Introduction to Advanced Routing) course is to provide students with a deep understanding of advanced network routing concepts and techniques using MikroTik devices.
Throughout the course, OSPF and BGP dynamic routing protocols, as well as MPLS technologies, will be explored in detail.
Chapter 1: Introduction to Advanced Routing
In this chapter, students will learn what routing is and how routing tables are used.
Concepts such as simple and dynamic routing, network metrics, best route, administrative distance, and route labels will be covered. Additionally, the differences between simple and dynamic routing will be analyzed.
Chapter 2: OSPF
This chapter introduces students to the OSPF protocol, its features, and how it works. Concepts such as link state updates (LSA) and OSPF metrics will be explored, as well as the key features of this dynamic routing protocol.
Chapter 3: BGP
In the third chapter, students will delve into the BGP protocol, its foundations and the different types of BGP. They will also learn about public and private autonomous system numbers (ASNs), outbound routes to the Internet, and the differences between BGP and default enterprise routing.
Scenarios such as single-homed, dual-homed, single-multihomed and dual-multihomed will be covered, as well as the configuration of eBGP neighbors.
Chapter 4: MPLS
In the final chapter, students will learn about MPLS and its role in advanced routing.
Topics such as Label Switching, pre-MPLS protocols and the benefits of MPLS in terms of a unified infrastructure, better IP integration over ATM, free core for BGP, the peer-to-peer model for MPLS VPN, traffic flow will be discussed. optimal and traffic engineering.
By the end
Upon completion of this course, students will be trained to implement and manage advanced routing in networks using MikroTik devices, and will understand how to apply OSPF, BGP, and MPLS protocols in different network scenarios.
Also, they will be able to make informed decisions about which routing protocol to use based on the specific needs and objectives of their network.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) of the MAE-RAV-ROS Course
- In the BGP instance in the router-id field in MikroTik can I put the Loopback address?
- What model of MikroTik equipment can handle a full internet table?
- Where can I find a command manual for mikrotik routers?
