Course Objectives
The main objective of the course OSPF protocol with MikroTik RouterOS (MAE-RAV-OSPF) is to equip students with in-depth and applicable knowledge on the implementation, configuration and troubleshooting of the Open Link State Protocol (OSPF) using MikroTik RouterOS technology.
By the end of the course, participants will have a complete understanding of OSPF and how it integrates with various network solutions, allowing them to design and maintain more robust, scalable and efficient networks.
Chapter 1: OSPF
Understand the fundamentals of the OSPF protocol, how it is structured within an Autonomous System and how it is decomposed into areas and types of routers.
- Understand the internal workings of OSPF.
- Learn about the design of an OSPF network, including IP addressing, Router ID, and OSPF hierarchy.
- Master the concepts of Backbone Area, Area Border Router (ABR) and Autonomous System Border/Boundary Router (ASBR).
Chapter 2: Network – Instance
Learn how to configure OSPF in MikroTik RouterOS and understand metrics and route summary.
- Configure OSPF in MikroTik.
- Understand how neighborhood relations are established and how DR/BDR are chosen.
Chapter 3: Costs
Understand cost concepts in OSPF and how they influence route selection.
- Learn to calculate the cost of the interface.
- Understand how OSPF metrics are configured.
Chapter 4: LSAs – Area Type
Learn the different types of link state advertisements (LSAs) and how they affect the operation of OSPF.
- Understand the types of OSPF routes.
- Learn about Stub Area, Totally Stubby Area and NSSAs.
Chapter 5: Multi-Area
Learn how to manage and configure OSPF in a multi-area environment.
- Conduct practical labs to understand the configuration and costs in a multi-area OSPF environment.
At the end of the course
