If you encounter a message indicating that there is not enough space when you try to download a RouterOS update on your MikroTik device, this means that the available storage memory on the device is insufficient to complete the download of the update file.
We give you some steps you can follow to solve this problem:
Check available space
Before trying to download the update, check how much free storage space is left on your device. You can do this by accessing the RouterOS interface and going to System
> Resources
. This will show you the free space available.
Clean unnecessary files
Often, old logs, older update packages that have not been cleaned, and other temporary files can take up valuable space. Delete these files to free up space. You can do it from Files
in the RouterOS interface.
Review and remove unnecessary packages
If your router has packages installed that you are not using, consider removing them. Go to System
> Packages
to see the installed packages and remove the ones you don't need.
Using a memory card or external storage
If your MikroTik device allows it, consider adding a microSD memory card to expand the available storage. This can be especially useful for devices with limited internal storage.
Opt for a net installation
If space is a recurring issue, consider performing a net install, which reinstalls RouterOS completely and removes any residual files that may be taking up space.
Upgrade to a model with more capacity
If space issues are a constant limitation to the operations you need to perform, it might be time to consider upgrading to a MikroTik model with more storage and memory capacity.
If you are still facing problems after trying these steps, it is advisable to contact MikroTik technical support or check the MikroTik community forums for more specific assistance.
