The tools to be able to see this information about the APs could be the “Scanner” and the “Wireless Snooper”.
You can use various tools built into MikroTik's RouterOS operating system, as well as external management tools. Here I detail some of the most effective ones:
1. WinBox
WinBox is a graphical configuration tool for MikroTik RouterOS. It provides a graphical user interface that allows network administrators to view and configure MikroTik devices with ease, including frequency and bandwidth settings of APs.
- How to use it: Simply connect to your MikroTik device through WinBox, go to the “Wireless” section, and select “Interfaces”. There you will be able to see the configurations of each AP, including frequency and bandwidth.
2. WebFig
WebFig is MikroTik's web-based configuration interface, similar to WinBox but accessible from a web browser. It offers similar functionalities and also allows you to monitor and adjust the configuration of APs.
- How to use it: Access your MikroTik device through a browser by entering the device's IP address. Once inside WebFig, navigate to the “Wireless” section to view and configure the APs properties.
3. The Dude
The Dude is a network management tool developed by MikroTik that can scan your network and provide a visual map of your infrastructure. You can monitor various device parameters, including the frequency and bandwidth of MikroTik APs.
- How to use it: Install The Dude on a server or computer within your network. Set it to scan your network. MikroTik devices will be automatically detected and you will be able to see specific details about each one, including APs.
4. CLI (Command Line Interface)
For technically advanced users, the MikroTik CLI offers a powerful and flexible way to manage all aspects of devices, including APs. You can access the CLI via SSH or Telnet.
- How to use it: Connect to the MikroTik device via SSH or Telnet, and use specific commands to view the configuration of the APs, such as
/interface wireless print
to list all wireless interfaces and their configurations.
These tools provide various ways to manage and monitor MikroTik access points, ensuring that you can adjust and optimize your network as necessary. Depending on your preference for graphical or command line interfaces, you can choose the tool that best suits your needs and technical skills.
