Where do we regulate the power of a MikroTik device in the event that the devices are very close, how can we lower the power?

To regulate the transmission power of a MikroTik device and reduce it in cases where the devices are very close, you can adjust the settings directly from the MikroTik RouterOS software.

Reducing transmit power when devices are in close proximity can help minimize interference and improve overall network performance.

Step by Step to Adjust the Transmission Power:

  1. Access your MikroTik device: Use WinBox or web access to connect to your MikroTik device.
  2. Go to the Wireless Interfaces section: Once inside WinBox, look for the “Wireless” menu located in the left side panel. If you are using the web interface, navigate to the appropriate wireless settings section.
  3. Select the Wireless Interface: Click the wireless interface you want to configure. It can be a WLAN interface for Wi-Fi networks.
  4. Adjust Transmit Power Settings: In the “Wireless” tab or section, look for an option called “Tx Power” or “Transmission Power”. This value is measured in dBm. You may also find options like “Tx Power Mode”, where you can select “All rates fixed” to apply the configured power to all transmission rates.
  5. Reduces Transmission Power: Decreases the “Tx Power” value as necessary. Typical values ​​may be in the range of 0 to 30 dBm, but for environments where devices are in close proximity, you may want to set a lower value, such as 10 dBm or even less, depending on the proximity and desired performance.
  6. Apply the Changes: Be sure to click “OK” or “Apply” to save the changes.

  • Interference: Reducing the transmission power can help minimize interference between nearby devices, but it can also affect the range and coverage of your Wi-Fi signal. Find a balance that maintains good connection quality for end users.
