If correct, every time you run any of the wireless tools you lose the connection.
This tool is designed to help you identify other access points or wireless stations in the area, displaying details such as SSID, MAC Address, signal, and other relevant parameters of networks available or in use.
Using the scan tool is useful for various purposes such as:
- Identify less congested channels: This allows you to adjust your device settings to optimize wireless performance.
- Find available networks: To configure point-to-point or point-to-multipoint wireless connections.
- Diagnose network problems: Helps check if other wireless devices operate on the same channel and are causing interference.
When you initiate a scan on a MikroTik device using this tool, the wireless device performing the scan temporarily stops communicating on its regular network to scan for available channels.
However, this process is generally quick and does not mean that you need to physically disconnect your devices or disrupt their established network settings.
Just keep in mind that while the device is scanning, there may be a brief interruption in wireless communication for those devices that depend on the computer that is performing the scan.
It is important to remember that although it is not necessary to disconnect other equipment to perform a scan, the device performing the scan will not be able to perform its normal function (such as providing internet connectivity to connected devices) during the brief period of the scan. Therefore, it is recommended to perform these scans at times when the impact on connectivity is minimal for users.
