I have an rb3011uias-rm as administrator and another rb2011 in balancer mode, is this correct?

The setup you describe, using a MikroTik RB3011UiAS-RM as a manager and an RB2011 as a balancer, is perfectly viable and may be effective depending on your specific needs and network configuration.

The idea of using a more powerful device like the RB3011 for network management and another device like the RB2011 for load balancing is a common practice that can offer several benefits.

Here are some points to consider:

RB3011UiAS-RM as Administrator

  • Power and Performance: The RB3011UiAS-RM is a high-end router with significantly higher performance than the RB2011. This makes it ideal for managing intensive administrative tasks and serving as the core of your network.
  • Advanced Capabilities: This device offers more Ethernet ports, higher CPU performance, and more memory than the RB2011, allowing you to implement a wide range of network functionality, from VPN and firewall to QoS and more.
  • Network Management: By using the RB3011 as your network manager, you can take advantage of its ability to handle a larger workload and process more data, allowing you to maintain a more complex and demanding network efficiently.

RB2011 as Balancer

  • Load balancing: The RB2011, while less powerful than the RB3011, is still a capable device that can effectively handle load balancing between multiple Internet connections. This can help improve the redundancy, availability, and overall performance of your Internet connection.
  • Cost-Efficiency: For load balancing, you don't always need the most powerful hardware, especially if this is the only task the device is performing. The RB2011 is a cheaper option that may fit this role well.
  • Specific Configuration: Configuring the RB2011 specifically for load balancing can simplify your network management by segmenting device responsibilities, allowing each device to specialize in specific tasks.

Considerations

  • Proper Configuration: It is crucial to ensure that both devices are properly configured for their respective roles. This includes configuring load balancing on the RB2011 in a way that complements the network management performed by the RB3011.
  • Network Integration: Make sure the integration between both devices is well planned. For example, the RB2011 should be configured to handle traffic efficiently and direct requests to the RB3011 for processing or network management as needed.
  • Maintenance and Monitoring: Keep both devices up to date and regularly monitor their performance to ensure that each is performing its function effectively and that the network is operating optimally.

In short, your configuration may be appropriate and effective for many network situations.

However, it is important to consider your specific network needs, traffic, and other factors to ensure this configuration is best for your particular environment.

      Regards,
In all MikorTik models IPv6 is supported, in the RouterOS v6 version you have to enable the IPv6 package in the System – Packages menu and select the IPv6 package and click the Enable button and then you just have to restart the router.
If the device has RouterOS v7, the IPv6 package is enabled by default.
