MikroTik routers, which operate under their RouterOS operating system, do not support the EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol) routing protocol.
EIGRP is an advanced routing protocol, proprietary to Cisco, and although it has been made available as an open standard, its adoption outside of Cisco devices has been limited.
MikroTik RouterOS supports several standard and widely used routing protocols, including:
- RIP (Routing Information Protocol)
- OSPF (Open Shortest Path First)
- Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
These protocols offer a wide range of functionality to cover the routing needs of most networks. OSPF, for example, is a widely used internal routing protocol (IGP) that can serve as an effective alternative to EIGRP in many scenarios. BGP is the standard protocol used for routing between autonomous systems (AS) on the Internet.
If you are looking to implement EIGRP on a network that includes MikroTik devices, you might consider using OSPF or BGP, depending on your specific network configuration and routing requirements.
Both protocols are capable of providing robust routing functionalities and can coexist with EIGRP in heterogeneous networks that include equipment from different manufacturers.
